Dr. Lorena Riol Blanco has deep biotech experience in translational research, pharmacology, drug discovery and development with a strong record of scientific leadership. Prior to Evommune, Lorena served as Director of Immunology/Immuno-Oncology at 23andMe where she led multi-departmental disease strategies to advance multiple drug discovery programs for inflammatory disorders and cancer. Prior to 23andMe, Lorena steered and developed several Immunology and Inflammation drug discovery programs at Genentech and successfully advanced multiple into clinical development. Lorena completed her Ph.D. studies at The Spanish Research Council, where she investigated the intracellular signaling pathways controlled by the chemokine receptors and the immune synapse in dendritic cells. During her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical school, she studied immunopathology, especially in the context of the interactions between the immune and the peripheral nervous systems.
