Dr. Littman is Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel professor of Molecular Immunology at the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine of NYU Langone Medical Center (1995-present) and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical lnstitute (1987-present). Prior to joining the faculty of NYU, Dr. Littman was Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of California San Francisco (1985-1995).
Dr. Littman is the founding member of the Scientific Advisory Boards of ChemoCentryx, and Vor Biopharma, and is a member of the Pfizer Board of Directors. Dr. Littman is the scientific founder and a member of the Scientific Advisory Boards of Vedanta Biosciences and Immunai. He is on the Advisory Boards of the Broad Institute; the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard; and the Whitehead Institute.
Dr. Littman has won numerous awards for his work, including the New York City Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Science and Technology (2004), the Ross Prize in Molecular Medicine (2013), the Vilcek Prize in Biomedical Science (2016), and the William B. Coley Award from the Cancer Research Institute (2016). He is an elected member of several honorific societies including the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine (formerly, the Institute of Medicine). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the American Academy of Microbiology. Dr. Littman received his MD and PhD degrees at Washington University in St. Louis.
